Vanessa Miller (b. 1984, Detroit, Michigan) earned her BFA from Wayne State University and has lived and worked in Detroit since 2005. Her photographs of Detroit’s time of transition from 2005-2016 have been shown around the world in various exhibitions and publications including: Vogue, Dwell, The New York Times, Detroit Free Press, and NPR. Vanessa is a founding member of Detroit Soup, active member of Omnicorp Detroit, and co-founder of Community Arts Moving Projects (CAMP) Detroit. She has also served on the New Leaders Art Council of Michigan, an advisory committee to the Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs. Vanessa will be publishing the first book of her work late this fall. It is an epitome of her personal experiences coming of age and the creative atmosphere in Detroit while it was the epicenter of the national financial crisis of 2005-2009.
